Outside Temperature Senzor Ford Mondeo

Temporary deafness is a daily

Sometimes people are so engrossed in something I can not hear the deafening siren or car racing toward them. What is it all about?

New research from the University of London revealed that a large focus on a particular task can cause temporary deafness in a very clear and loud noises from the environment.

"Inadvertent deafness is common and happens every day," said Professor Nili Levi and UCL Institute.

study was performed on several examples. Respondents were given easy tasks that do not require so great concentration and only two out of ten respondents did not react to the sound of the phone, rather not hear it.

In the second experiment, when they get a much more complex task, eight out of ten respondents did not hear the ringing of bells.

"If our attention is focused on something else, we can be completely deaf for the rest of the world. In fact, when we find ourselves in situations that are very focused on a specific task, very likely we will experience temporary deafness," explained Professor Levi.
